EID PRAYERS IN BULANDSHAHR

Eid Prayers

Eid Prayers in Bulandshahr (at Eidgah of Bulandshahr) were a delight to me thinking of the collectiveness of the religion propounded by the Prophet Muhammad of Arabia. Bulandshahr is a historical city and the district Headquarter of the district of the same name lying in the western Uttar Pradesh and a part of National Capital Region.

Thousands of Muslims clad in traditional Islamic attire flocked to Eidgah of Bulandshahr to perform Eid Prayers. As this year, there was a government ruling that the prayers must be performed within the boundary of the building designated for this purpose and the public places must not be used disturbing traffic, people had come before time.

Shahar Qazi who is authorized Islamic Scholar to lead the Eid Prayers delivered a brief sermon before leading the annual Eid Prayer. He said, there are particular days in every society, culture and religion, which are celebrated particularly. Eid Prayers are performed after a month of fasting called Ramadan, which is meant to purify soul and to prepare oneself for harsh realities of life.

Imam Sahab in his sermon referred to ban imposed by the Government of Bhartiya Janta Party on performing Eid Prayers on roads that we were allowed in the past to perform Eid Prayers even on public places when the space within the premises designated for this purpose is not sufficient but now it is not the case. It is the wish of the Almighty Allah and we must surrender to the will of the creator. Time changes and we do not have control on it and tough times also go away so we must have patience and strive for better.

Qazi Shahar after leading Eid Prayers presented income expenditure of Eidgah earnings from the commercial establishments, which were sufficient to fulfill the needs of Eidgah. As Shahar Qazi has become very old, he could not effectively present the balance sheet of the earnings of Eidgah. This Eid Prayer at Eidgah in Bulandshahr is memorable for me. (Hamid Siddiqui)
