Saghari Rampur

While searching Islamic landscape in one of the prominent district in the State of Bihar, Muzaffarpur, the very of name of which suggests its Muslim origin, I came across a village named Saghari Rampur.

Saghari Rampur is a rural settlement (Basti) situated in Aurai Block of Muzaffarpur, the headquarters of Muzaffarpur district and division, thus the heart of Tirhuta. Located about 35 km away from its district headquarter on Aurai Katra section of the road connecting Runni Saidpur to Muzaffarpur, its pin code reads as 843312, whereas census code is 229088. Comprising geographical area of 125 hectares of land, approximately 3,026 persons are the part of 585 households here.

Why I decided to write some lines on this village, it is very simple. A unique seat of learning “Madrasa Darul Millat” founded in 1960, and the famous Karimi family makes Saghari Rampur a distinguished Muslim settlement. The website of this Islamic seminary – www.madrasadarulmillat.com provides detailed information, mission and vision of Darul Millat, Saghari Rampur with pleasant gallery proving its significance.

Janab Imteyaz Ahmad Karimi, under whose leadership, Darul Millat is progressing, is an embodiment of his good name. Imteyaz, Mumtaz, Tamyeez and others are Arabic words used in Urdu, whose root term comprising meem, yaa and noon has the meaning of uniqueness, distinguished one and the word kareem signifies benevolence. Indeed, the former Chairman of Bihar Public Service Commission, Imteyaz Ahmad Karimi Sahab, as the leader of the Management Committee of Madrasa Darul Millat, has done a remarkable job in developing the educational institution mentioned above as a model Islamic Seminary incorporating the modern sciences into eternal and traditional knowledge of Islam. Hostels, library, computer lab, science lab and all other essential facilities such as canteen and others are available in this institution.

Not far from Saghari Rampur, lies one of the best Islamic seminaries of northern Bihar, Jamia Qadria Maqsoodpur, Aurai, founded by Mufti Aslam Razvi (R) and currently run by his abled sons and others. (Hamid Siddiqui)
