Miraq Mirza, a poet, script writer and film director was born to Ahmad Husain son of Mohd Ishaq and Sakina Bano d/o Mirza Hajjan Ali on 24th of December, 1962 in Mohalla Kamra, Muzaffarpur and he settled in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He has MA degree in English literature. Khwaja Ahmad Abbas is his ideal and icon. His occupation is film script writing. Miraq Mirza has written scripts of numerous movies. He is one of the contemporary Urdu poets also. ‘Sooraj Ke Aas Pass’ is his poems collection.
Miraq Mirza acknowledges the influences of two books written by the late president of India and world famous scientist, Dr A.P. J. Abdul Kalam and they are Ignited Minds and Wings of Fire. In the realm of poetry, he appreciates his roommate and accomplished poet, Furqan Allahabadi and other poets like Farogh Rohvi.
Actors and artists such as Dharmendra, Mithun Chakravarti, Aditya Pancholi, Sunil Shetti, Sanjay Kapoor, Faisal Khan, Arbaz Khan, Sharad Kapoor, Aryan Ved, Manisha Koirala, Jaya Parda, Monika Bedi, Rashia Bhat, Priti Jangyani, Suman Ranganathan, Mamta Kulkarni, Mukesh Khanna, Qadar Khan, Amrish Puri, Anoopam Kher, Karan Kumar, Gulshan and a host of others have worked in movies based on scripts written by Miraq Mirza. About ten scripts were written by him for Mithun Chakravarti.
Miraq Mirza has faced many ups and downs in his life journey. He met with a fatal road accident while writing dialogues of the director Firoz Khan’s movie “Yalghar”. Another calamity fell upon him when he was admitted in Lilawti Hospital of Mumbai for treatment from Pancreatitice but he was healed with support of film fraternity and family prayers.
These episodes in the life of Miraq Mirza were a turning point. He got opportunity to study literature and his first short story titled “Rishta” was published in the monthly ‘Aaj Kal’ in 2001 and his works in both prose and poesy are being published regularly in magazines and journals in India and abroad.
