Javed Mohammad, assumed by the police as the mastermind of Allahabad protests against the insulting remarks by BJP leaders, has the exemplary records of the community service and welfare of masses in Prayagraj. Called by some locals as Javed Pump because of his submersible business in the city, he was born in 1966. He is the Nazim-e-Shehr on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hind for Prayagraj and the General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Unit of the Welfare Party of India headed by Qasim Rasool Ilyas, the father of Umar Khalid, who is in jail on the charges of inciting and causing the North Delhi riots in 2020 according to Delhi Police. Afreen Fatima, the elder daughter of Javed Mohammad is known and admired social activist working for the oppressed and downtrodden people of the country.
Social Activist:
Javed Mohammad has been active in the realm of social issues actively participating in removing the worries of the common men and working for the welfare of the community. His post on facebook only two hours before Allahabad protests reveals his love for social harmony and amicable co-existence. He wrote on his timeline at 11.28 AM of 10 June, 2022 “किसी भी मसले पर यदी सरकार से बात कहना हो तो बेहतरीन तरीका होता है अपनी बात या मांग को ज्ञापन के जरये अधिकारियों से समय लेकर दी जाय, यह शहर हमेशा शांती प्रिय रहा है, हालात के मद्देनजर हमें खामोशी से जुमा नमाज पढ़ कर अल्लाह से दुआ करनी चाहिए अमनो अमान के लिए, सभी को कानूनी दायरे में रह कर अपनी बात कहने को अधिकार है, मेमोरंडम बनाएं हम सब मिलकर, जिला अधिकारी के माध्यम से राज्य सरकार या केंद्र सरकार, महा महिम राष्ट्रपति महोदय को भेजवायें, बेवजह कोई भी सड़क पर इकठ्ठा बिल्कुल न हो जिससे पूरी मिल्लत को नुकसान उठाना पड़े. जुमा पढ़े, अपने घर जाकर दुआ करिए कि अमन चैन शांती मुहब्बत कायम रहे। मेहरबानी करके पोस्ट शयर जरूर करें. However, some persons regard it as the double standard of Javed Mohammad considering him as the mastermind behind Prayagraj violence.
Javed Mohammad has also been active for removing encroachments from a Muslim graveyard in Kala Danda area of Prayagraj in capacity of the president of the Qabristan Committee. He fought a legal battle seeking help from the police and approaching the courts in this campaign. Removing encroachments is not an easy task, which angers land mafia and their goons and Javed Mohammad also faced the furry of the local builders.
Campaigner against the mob lynching:
Many Muslim youth and others have been lynched in India in the recent past. One of such unfortunate cases had occurred on the outskirts of Prayagraj. In this horrible incident, he approached the Allahabad High Court to bring the culprits under the clutches of punishment and administer justice to the victim.
While Covid – 19 pandemic was ravaging the country second time, Javed Mohammad rendered great services by arranging oxygen machines and cylinders and when certain parts of Prayagraj got flooded, he was not behind and came forward actively engaged in relief efforts. That apart, he is known and respected in Prayagraj and surrounding areas for extending helping hands in mattes of medical treatment and hospital bills for the needy persons and school fees / books for students of the poor parents.
A Vocal Muslim:
Javed Mohammad has always been vocal in reference to the issues of Muslims in India such as Babri Masjid demolition, citizenship amendment excluding Muslims and retaining others and Government policy towards NRC. However, we can observe his foresight for common welfare of the country brethren when he recalled anti CAA and NRC protests in view of dangers posed by Covid – 19 pandemic.
Father of Afreen Fatima:
Afreen Fatima, a renowned activist, who has graduated from AMU and pursuing her education in JNU, has been active participant in Shaheen Bagh protests, touring the South in Hijab row and expressing her points of views on vital issues concerning the community in particular and the marginalized persons in common.
Wrongly accused by Police:Although, Javed Mohammad has been an important part of every peace committee in the city cooperating with the police and authorities during conflicts, now he is prime accused in the Prayagraj protests case and the police have regarded him as the mastermind behind this occurrence. Now he needs dedicated legal and moral support in fighting for justice. ◊◊◊
