Yeah, Marine Drive does exist in Muzaffarpur. Shores and waterfronts are not the sole property of Mumbai and vast Indian areas dotting the Indian Ocean. Water bodies and wetlands etc are in abundance in Bharat. The local term for water body at our place is “mann/Talab” which exists near our village Tehai as well as in Sikandarpur in the smart city of Muzaffarpur where a marine drive is being developed recently adding a required feature to the educational hub of the Mithila region.
Marine Drive means a road built along the sea or lake or mann/Talab in the case of Sikandarpur of Muzaffarpur for scenic views of the sea/lake, public recreation in terms of walking, jogging, relaxing, tourism and city beautification and so on. Marine Drive of Mumbai which is also called the Queen’s Necklace is a good example of a marine drive.
Sikandarpur of Muzaffarpur where Sikandarpur wetland around which Marine Drive is being developed is a place through which persons coming from Zero mile side of Muzaffarpur while going to Juran Chhapra area and MPF junction etc pass crossing this water body.
The project of Lakefront and marine drive of Sikandarpur Mann/Talab has started in 2022 under Smart City Mission transforming the traditional lake into a recreational lake-cum-part and cultural hub improving urban life, tourism and environment quality. Its expenditure has been estimated to be Rs. 213 crores.
Marine Drive / Lakefront of Muzaffarpur includes key features of pedestrian walkways, jogging paths, dedicated cycling tracks, landscaped gardens in addition to cultural infrastructure of open air auditorium, boating facilities, relaxation areas and food kiosks including others.
Akhadaghat, Sikandarpur Stadium and Muzaffarpur Club are situated near Marine Drive of Muzaffarpur. Smart City Muzaffarpur has many other infrastructures like railway junction, universities, colleges such as LS and RDS Colleges, malls, bustling markets, libraries and others. (Hamid Siddiqui)
