MOHAMMAD GHULAM FARID HANIFI

Ghulam Farid

Hazrat Maulana Ghulam Farid Hanifi Teghi is one of the prominent Islamic scholars and Islamic mystics belonging to the Teghi and Aabadani orders of Islamic mysticism and Sufism being practiced by a large section of the Muslim community in India and elsewhere. His father Shah Mohammad Hafiz Hanif Qadri Teghi was a distinguished Sufi Buzurg and an author of many books. I (Hamid Siddiqui) have the honor to be blessed by him in my childhood so I have a vivid picture of him as a person having both of the inner and outer beauty, goodness, handsomeness and smartness.

I am fortunate that one of his daughters was my step grandmother married to my maternal grandfather Maulana Abu Zafar Siddiqui and she was like my mother’s own mother as long as she lived and whenever I would go to my Nanihal Mauna, she treated me like her own maternal grandson.

The inspiration to write some words about Maulana Mohammad Ghulam Farid Hanifi Teghi is a Facebook post posted by one of my friends Mufti Kaiful Hasan Qadri, the author of Tanveerul Quran and founder director of Tanveerul Quran Institute, Delhi NCR.
