Shahi Jama Masjid is a splendid mosque built by the just and versatile emperor Babar and it is the center of religious, spiritual and social activities of Indian Muslims inhabited the area. Mosque has a vital and pivotal place in the Islamic way of life and whenever a Muslim resides he wants first of all to build a mosque.
Now, Shahi Jama Masjid has become a center stage for the Hindutva fanatical forces supported by the ruling majoritarian government. They say this worship place has been erected by demolishing a temple called Harihar Temple / Kalki Temple and a number of Historians has come out to prove their claim that the site where the mosque exists had a temple.
This claim is foolishly fanatical. Even if we assume any religious structure was in existence here, the question arises as to whether the so called temple had its presence from eternity, if not, when the Harihar Temple was built in reality, what existed on the site before the temple was constructed.
Everybody knows that Shahi Jama Masjid continues to be used for Islamic prayers for a very long time since 1526 and it is also a prima facie fact that the Places of Worship Act is in force. However, the fanatical individuals and groups from a particular background and upbringing are filing petitions after petitions in the Courts and judges ignoring the law of the land are passing the immediate orders for immediate surveys as if surveying the mosques on the petitions of the communal forces is national concern requiring swift action.
This is the established fact that the imperial and colonial powers have fabricated or highlighted those issues that served their purposes in the name of orientalism and Archeological Survey of India and other means. The Hindutva mentors and founders have admired and admiring the colonialists that have harmed Muslims in every possible manner and the most of the claims of Hindu Party in such cases are based on musings, fabrications or facts brought out by the colonial powers, which shall be detailed in other posts.
