Marg-e-Mafajat is an expression occurred in the poetry of Allama Iqbal, the Poet of the East and the spiritual mentor of Pakistan and one of the finest literary artists of all times.

Marg-e-Mafajat is linguistically a noun phrase combined by two words, marg that signifies death. This word has come from Persian language and Mafajat meaning ‘sudden’ is a term of Arabic tongue. Therefore, Marg-e-Mafajat means ‘Sudden Death’. Here is the entire poem of the poet where the term has been used:
अबुल-अला-म’अर्री
(Abul Ala Maarri)

कहते हैं कभी गोश्त न खाता था म’अर्री
फल-फूल पे करता था हमेशा गुज़र-औक़ात
इक दोस्त ने भूना हुआ तीतर उसे भेजा
शायद कि वो शातिर इसी तरकीब से हो मात
ये ख़्वान-ए-तर-ओ-ताज़ा म’अर्री ने जो देखा
कहने लगा वो साहिब-ए-गुफ़रान-ओ-लुज़ूमात
ऐ मुर्ग़क-ए-बेचारा ज़रा ये तो बता तू
तेरा वो गुनह क्या था ये है जिस की मुकाफ़ात?
अफ़्सोस-सद-अफ़्सोस कि शाहीं न बना तू
देखे न तिरी आँख ने फ़ितरत के इशारात!
तक़दीर के क़ाज़ी का ये फ़तवा है अज़ल से
है जुर्म-ए-ज़ईफ़ी की सज़ा मर्ग-ए-मुफ़ाजात!
کہتے ہیں کبھی گوشت نہ کھاتا تھا معری
پھل پھول پہ کرتا تھا ہمیشہ گزر اوقات
اک دوست نے بھونا ہوا تیتر اسے بھیجا
شاید کہ وہ شاطر اسی ترکیب سے ہو مات
یہ خوان تر و تازہ معری نے جو دیکھا
کہنے لگا وہ صاحب غفران و لزومات
اے مرغک بیچارہ ذرا یہ تو بتا تو
تیرا وہ گنہ کیا تھا یہ ہے جس کی مکافات؟
افسوس صد افسوس کہ شاہیں نہ بنا تو
دیکھے نہ تری آنکھ نے فطرت کے اشارات!
تقدیر کے قاضی کا یہ فتویٰ ہے ازل سے
ہے جرم ضعیفی کی سزا مرگ مفاجات!

kahte haiñ kabhī gosht na khātā thā ma.arrī
phal-phūl pe kartā thā hamesha guzar-auqāt
ik dost ne bhūnā huā tītar use bhejā
shāyad ki vo shātir isī tarkīb se ho maat
ye ḳhvān-e-tar-o-tāza ma.arrī ne jo dekhā
kahne lagā vo sāhib-e-ġhufrān-o-luzūmāt
ai murġhak-e-bechāra zarā ye to batā tū
terā vo gunah kyā thā ye hai jis kī mukāfāt?
afsos-sad-afsos ki shāhīñ na banā tū
dekhe na tirī aañkh ne fitrat ke ishārāt!
taqdīr ke qaazī kā ye fatvā hai azal se
hai jurm-e-za.īfī kī sazā marg-e-mufājāt!

है जुर्म-ए-ज़ईफ़ी की सज़ा मर्ग-ए-मुफ़ाजात!

You might have read the entire poem grasping the central idea of this composition spoken from the mouth of one of the known poets and philosophers of Arabic language, Abul Ala Maarri. In the background of the western powers’ devastation and genocide being committed through the Jewish State supplying arms, intelligence and money, it is understandable how a weak nation suffers from a sudden death. Within a year, Israel under the guidance of the neo-imperial countries and nations has caused a trauma to millions of Arabs and Muslims and the sole reason for it is nothing but weakness.

This is the established and well proven maxim that the punishment of the crime of being weak is Marg-e-Mafajat (sudden death). If we want to live with dignity and protect our lives and properties, we must be strong and consider the survival of the fittest. (Hamid Siddiqui)
