Haaye – Haaye is a rhyme scheme (Radif) used by the greatest Urdu poet, Ghalib in one of his ghazals, in which he laments and expresses Haaye тАУ Haaye, alas, alas in English. Let us see what the concerns are which have concerned Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib.

The beloved in Urdu poetry has normally been portrayed as brute without mercy and s/he pains the lover, so when the beloved of the poet is restless due to agony of the composer of poesy, he spontaneously cannot control himself from speaking out alas, alas.

The true lover cannot see his beloved in pain, even if her pain is the result of the sorrows of the lover. When the honey of the poet is restless, he is also concerned and asks the respective person not to be restless on his agonies.

Ghalib is a philosophical poet as well. He is happy that his beloved has given assurances for the whole life, however the very life is uncertain and a man can die within a moment.
