Iqra Chaudhary belongs to a prominent political family from Kairana in Western Uttar Pradesh. She has won the parliamentary election on the ticket of Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav in 2024 Parliamentary Election, whose votes were counted on 04th June, 2024. This election has proved to be very significant in a number of ways devastating the vision of communal elements in India.
Iqra Chaudhary’s father, Munawwar Hasan (15 May, 1964 – 10 December, 2008), a member of Gujjar Caste, was an MP and political activist during Mulayam Singh’s Yadav Government and earlier. Tragically he passed away in a road accident near Palwal in Haryana.
Begum Tabassum Hasan (born in 1970) is the mother of Iqra Chaudhary. She was first elected to Lok Sabha in 2009 as a Bahujan Samaj Party Candidate from Kairana. In the 2018 bypolls for Kairana, she won by a margin of nearly 50,000 votes as Rashtriya Lok Dal nominee. However, she joined Samajwadi Party and lost the Kairana seat, a year later, to BJP’s Pradeep Chaudhary by a margin of over 90,000 votes, in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
The son of Munawwar Hasan and Begum Tabassum, Nahid Hasan also is an erudite politician representing Kairana in 16th and 17th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh on behalf of Samajwadi Party. Hasan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Holmes Institute in Sydney.
Both brother and sister are highly educated. Iqra Chaudhary has acquired post-graduation in politics at SOAS University of London so she is suited to lead the public and bring her area to the path of development and prosperity.
Kairana, the birth place and constituency of Chaudhary Munawwar Hasan family lies in the district Shamli only 14 km from here. Rahmatullah Kairanawi, author of Izhar-al-Haqq, Shabab Kairanawi, a Pakistani film director, producer, and occasional screenwriter, lyricist and a novelist, Wahiduzzaman Kairanawi, a lexicographer, Ustad Abdul Karim (11 November 1872 – 27 October 1937), Indian Classical Singer and his cousin Abdul Wahid Khan both the founders of the Kairana Gharana of classical music and other many prominent Muslims belonged to this constituency of Iqra Chaudhary.
