Rakibul Husain or Rakibul Hussain represents Dhubri Parliamentary Constituency. He has won the election contest with a huge margin of 1012476 garnering total 1471885 votes in his favor. His nearest rival Mohammad Badruddin Ajmal, founder and chairperson of All India Democratic Front and business person in perfume lost with loosing margin of 1012476 acquiring only 459409 voices.
How and why did Rakibul Husain manage to defeat a cleric so powerful, who had been MP from the same constituency more than one time, a successful business tycoon engaged in social works and community development? This question is highly relevant and need to be answered.
Perhaps the case of Rakibul Husain leads to the conclusion that Muslims of India have realized that the politics on minority religion cannot succeed and Muslim parties cannot establish a large voter base taking together other marginalized castes and communities and favoring a cleric in Indian politics can cause the majority community to shift their choices to a party advocating their religious causes. Therefore, Indian Muslims went in favor of the Indian National Congress, a grand old party believing in secular values against Bhartiya Janta party siding to the outdated ideologies and metaphysics. This wisdom of the largest minority community of India is appreciable indeed. There may be other factors in favor of Rakibul Husain however this one is the most relevant point to be taken into account.
Rakibul Husain, Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha from Dhubri in Assam came into being to the late Alhaj Nurul Husain on 7th August, 1964. He served Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly from 2021 to 2024 on behalf of the Congress. He was a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Samaguri. Our leader Rakibul Husain is also an Aleeg. He has acquired post-graduation in Political Science from Aligarh Muslim University, so a suitable man to bring and keep Indian Muslims to the path of progress and prosperity. We wish him good of luck. (Hamid Siddiqui)
